The BIG Constipation Survey

Jul 23, 2019

The Bowel Interest Group conducted a survey in June 2019 to gain a greater understanding of the challenges faced by HCPs when treating patients with constipation.

The survey involved 147 GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals in primary care. Results showed that, on average, health care professionals see a patient with constipation 6.3 times a week with a quarter of respondents seeing ten or more patients a week. The survey revealed that only 10% had access to a local constipation service while many said that an integrated continence service would be useful. A valuable finding from this survey was that there was a high demand for online learning on bowel health. Online learning modules rated number one for usefulness while top tips documents came in second place.
